Arkas Maritime History Center, located in a historical building dating back to 1800’s in Bornova Izmir, was opened in 2012, to showcase maritime history and developments in maritime industry. The art center houses a selection of ship models, paintings and nautical objects from the Arkas Collection, which has been formed meticulously for over 30 years in line with Lucien Arkas’s passion for art and the maritime world. The collection covers a period from 3000 B.C. to the present day, comprising wide and varied models of legendary ships, paintings created by Turkish and international marine painters and nautical objects.
